Tips to Save

There are different types of life insurance for many different needs. While there are no true “discounts” there are ways to reduce your life insurance premiums.

  • Consider term insurance. Term insurance is typically less inexpensive than whole life policies and my provide a short term solution to your life insurance needs. However, they don’t provide the permanent protection that a whole life policy may provide.
  • Get fit. Your life insurance premium is based on a number of factors including your health. Your weight, blood pressure and cholesterol level may all directly affect your premium.
  • Don’t smoke. Virtually every insurance company has higher rates for smokers than non-smokers.
  • Consider coverage waivers. If you participate in certain hazardous activities (skydiving, bull riding, etc.) you may have difficulty obtaining coverage or pay significantly higher premiums. Some companies allow you to waive coverage while participating in named hazardous activities and still obtain the life insurance you need at a reasonable cost.
